
The report presents 30 testimonies from migrants who were expelled from Tunisia to Libya between June 2023 and November 2024, highlighting a salient feature which appears in their accounts: the sale of humans at the border by Tunisian police and military apparatuses as well as the interconnection between the infrastructure behind expulsions and the kidnapping industry in Libyan prisons. In this sense, the report documents events and situations which in the social sciences and international law are classified as “state crimes”.
“We trusted them, as they are the competent authorities. They put all our phones in a box and took the money we had. It was around 9pm. They finished searching us, took our passports, and put us on the buses. If we had known, we could have resisted.”
